My TomTom 510 threatens to switch itself off every few seconds and starts its 10 second count down, then (usually) changes its mind and reverts to where it was. I suspect that there is a loose connection somewhere in the unit itself. I have tried the unit with a different screen mount, alternative power cable and in a different car, i have tried cleaning the contacts on the unit - and the problem persists.
Does anybody have a solution.
Thanks in anticipation |

It does sound like there's a loose connection (possibly the USB socket isn't holding any plug in place correctly). If the unit is new, it could be worth getting it replaced.
You can disable the feature but going into change preferences then going through the screens to Battery saving preferences". If you uncheck 'Switch off when external power is lost', it won't start counting down.
Oh, to the forums. _________________ Gerry

It is probably the mount that is causing the issue, do you have the option to disable the auto power off function, it should be in Change Preferences/ Brightness Preferences/ and make sure the "Switch off when external power is lost" is NOT selected.
If its not there try Change Preferences/ Battery saving preferences/ and make sure the "Switch off when external power is lost" is NOT selected
I am not too sure what version of software you have on the device and this feature has been moved around to different areas within preferences on the different devices, but you should be able able to disable it from the above - Mike |
