Is there any way to reduce guidance volume while retaining poi/safety camera volumes at a reasonable level?

No, afraid not.
I have been badgering TomTom to give us this option for ages.

All they did was make it worse when they added text to speech voices which are louder then the normal ones.. POI warnings that matched the ordinary navigation voices OK are now too quiet when you've turned the TTS voice down to a good level.

What I really want is:

But please do complain to TomTom about it, that's the only way we might get anything done about it.

That would be ideal & I'll certainly be complaining to TomTom, but by all accounts is seems that TomTom live in their own little world & belive that customers are just nuisance, so I won't hold my breath

I'm guessing that this overwrites the voice files with blank ones called 'Silence' so getting a voice back would be a case of reverting back to Liz or whatever. Maybe a full set of Liz files numbered 1 - 10, all sampled to different volumes. It is a solution but a bit fiddly while driving. I was hoping for something more like the slider bar arrangement suggested by Andy_P. I like having the TomTom there and the route displayed but it would be really good to turn it down/off occasionally without losing Liz all together & without turning down speed camera warnings.

If you don't mind muting it completely...whst model/software are you on?

My Go720 on v7 has an option to "Disable voice" in Change preferences/Voice Preferences, but AFAIK this menu only appears on the x20 and x30 models with v7. No idea if it is on v8 for the One...

It's a 520 running NavCore 8 & v 7.20 (IIRC) maps - I'll have a look if I can disable it when I get back to the car - cheers

I tried 'Disable Voice' & it does exactly that, for everything - Safety Cameras, POI the lot - so it's back to the drawing board Crying or Very sad

Ahh, I was assuming you were using recorded voices for the camera warnings. They will still continue OK.
The "Disable voice" will mute the navigation instructions and anything else you have set to use the TTS voice

If you use one of the voice sets from HERE for your camera warnings, all will be well.

If you want the instructions to be quieter than the camera warnings, try using Liz Whitaker's warnings. She's so strident that she made me jump every time she spoke.

I used Kate from this site in France and she was great, much quieter and more gentle, but I don't think she is available for the UK database. If not, next time I am coming to the UK I'll try the other voices from this site and hope they are better than Liz.
