Some time ago I reported a speed camera which was not shown on Pocket GPS's site map, (GATSO:50570@30), so I assumed it was a first report. Just wanted to see if anyone knows if there's a way to check if it was a first report awaiting verification, for free lifetime membership, or if someone beat me to it, before renewing membership with Paypal. Thanks.

It's in the current database, so unless you've received an email telling you you've been awarded life membership I'm afraid you were beaten to it.

From the camera download page:

If you report a camera and you were the first to do so when you look at the camera submissions page it will show on there ( you will be the only person to see it on the map if you were the first person to report it.)
Your report will show as a square box with a cross in it !! so if you do not see a box with a cross in it where the camera was you are not the first person to have spotted the new camera and reported it

Hope that explains how it works

Do they still have a cross now since the cross hair thing has gone from the map?

Do you think it would be a good idea to make these icons and the explanation of what they mean as a sticky !!
Time after time we get posters complaining "I am sure I was the first to report the camera "and the simple explanation in most cases is when the camera was reported if you do not see it on the map a few days later with a cross you were not the first .
It could save a lot of the negative posts regarding this issue and as a retort to any query you can just refer them to the sticky

that's not always the case though. sometimes a submission wont be shown on the map like that even if it IS the first... hence it's never been an official 'statement' as such, just most of the time!

The reason I asked about the cross is that I made a submission a short while ago for a camera near me (55691) which I've never seen before in nearly 20 years of driving the road and it shows on the map now as . I'm not bothered if it's the first or not but it'd be nice to be consistent so one can tell.

thats a pending mobile site. ie its been reported, the submission comments were good enough and it's awaiting further sightings and a visit by a verifier.

everyone sees those, not just the original submitter.

Ahh right, I didn't realise that pMobiles were treated differently like that. Makes sense I suppose.
