Hi

I've tried TMC on my 730T but don't seem to be getting any reception at all.
I even put the TomTom on the boot of my car and stretched the aerial out in case the windows on the car etc were a problem but after standing there for about 5 minutes (like an idiot !!) there was still nothing...
I live in Liverpool (for any questions about coverage) which shouldn't be a particular problem area as far as I know !!

Any thoughts / advice would be greatly appreciated

You are located in a poor reception area, but it should work in and around Liverpool, once the device has picked up a signal subsequent RDS reception is much better with faster lock on times. Make sure the aerial wire is at least 5CM from the edge of the windscreen, and what type of car are you using it in? - Mike

Thanks for the quick response..

I have a Mercedes E240. How long could the initial signal detection take. At the moment I've had it on in the car itself for about 15 mins without picking up a signal ?

You may have to experiment a little to position the receiver for optimal reception.

I placed mine up the side of the windscreen a few inches inside the pillar and had good reception on my driveway and within a radius of about 30 miles of home.

However, in a different location I had no reception and placed the receiver up the middle of the windscreen. Then, I had good reception - even in the middle of a multi-storey car park.
