Fix allows d/l of map for 'cannot be installed..." mess

Copied from my message in the navigator forum:

Currently TomTome Home does not allow you to download maps proper to a PNA onto a PDA reporting 'this cannot be installed to your device'.This can mean you have purchased a map you then cannot download.

This is a link to a post with a patch for TomTom Home 2.3 PNA which allows you to download purchased maps from the TomTom shop onto a PDA running TomTom 7.

It may work for the PNAs suffering the same problem.

After downloading you must install the map manually

It is not my work or idea and appears to work on my Tytn II.

I don'y use a PNA myself so you may be correct.

On the PDA you d/l the map and it creates several files on the PC
*.gif
*.zip
*.cab

What I believe you need to do is:

1.On The PC unzip *.zip to a directory name ie:Western_Europe
2.On the PC open *.cab with winzip and extract the *.dct file to the previously created directory (step 1)
3.On the PC copy the new directory to the SD card or copy it to the PNA

As I say I cannot test or try this as I don't have a PNA,but it may be of help....alternatively the PNAs are so different from the PDA that this is a load of rubbish and I'm talking nonsense
