I know, I know this has come up before, but bear with me, there is a specific question that I have that could settle it for me.

I am struggling to choose between them. On the one hand

Garmin:
Nicer screen, brighter with better anti-aliasing.
(Allegedly?) better EU maps
Cheaper

Tom Tom:
More info on screen (speed, distance remaining, current time)
IQ
Lane thingy
Better refresh rate.
Better FM transmitter (although probably still too rubbish to work as an MP3 player.

Then there's the traffic thing. With Garmin giving up on Trafficmaster and going with ITIS along with Tom Tom, will this be the future and will Trafficmaster die out?

The biggest problem I have with the Garmin is the lack of info on the map screen. I REALLY want to see my current speed and distance to travel and current time.
I am aware that these are available on the trip information screen, but my question is, what happens if you leave it on that view and you approach a junction? Will it automatically bring back the map at the point where it would normally zoom in for the junction, and then return to the trip screen? If so then that would solve my problem. Anyone know?

Otherwise I find it very frustrating that they can't just allow us to choose what data we want displayed on the main screen. Seems a no-brainer to me as it is the only way you can keep (most) people happy.

I would buy a TomTom then.
