Not sure if the link will work, but does anyone know what model TomTom is in the new Yaris SR. It's the one that slots into the dashboard.
Just wonder if it will be able to take advantage of software upgrades or if models like this tend to be stuck with the software they come with.
See Here.
If the link doesn't work go to the Yaris section of the Toyota website and look at the special offers and the Yaris SR. Click on more pictures to see a close up of the Yaris dashboard with the TomTom

I am not too sure that the car uses a TomTom product, if it does then you can find some information on the Eclipse unit in This Thread, but it isn't something I would want in my car, it is a very ugly looking unit - Mike |

It's the 'Eclipse DUO' a custom TomTom unit that 'mates' with a double DIN system built-in to the dash. We first saw this at CES in Las Vegas two years ago:
It's basically a standard TomTom in a custom case so it can dock with the main unit. It still has an SD card slot an should be update-able pretty easily but as it's a custom unit it will require its own specific update. I don't know if any have been made available to date. _________________ Darren Griffin

if it all matches the dash then it would be good as no mounts to mess around with and if it had TMC traffic info then i would imagine it would make use of the car's own aerial. (Toyota are not known for ugly dashboards... especially in the Yaris)
Currently have a Yaris and the garage have been trying to get me in to look at the new ones. May just go have a nosey to see if they have any of these working. Problem is sometimes the deals the garage come up with are too good to refuse .
Think it all depends on how updatable the unit is, if it's the standard TomTom software and can make use of the software updates that will be fantastic. In the image it doesn't look any different to the standard TomTom screens. |

The image above is the Yaris install. Although it is basically a bog standard TomTom as far as Navigation is concerned there are some custom menus etc because it is part of the Eclipse unit and so it will require specific firmware. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Yeah just found the Tomtom Toyota manual and it does look to be a very basic version of the software with some tweaks to add extra functions. Seems a bit of a shame.... oh well was interested as the Yaris SR model with all of the extras at the moment is cheaper than the lower TR model.... what gives .
Oh well... no point in hoping that TomTom add the v8 software to the device anytime soon. |

Hmmm not as nice looking at my current Yaris dash, I would have thought they would have made it a bit more 'fitted' |

Seeing as the car itself looks so nice I have taken the plung and should be getting an SR at the weekend.
I don't intend to use the TomTom for more than just a nice interface for browsing my MP3 files, but will have a bit of a play and let people know what I think.
The unit mounted in the dashboard doesn't look as ugly as I first thought it would. _________________ Navigon 8450 LIVE |
