| I have installed a Mapsource 2008 NT DVD on my PC to interface with my 770. I am now (2 months later) trying to install it on my travel laptop for summer trip to Italy. when I put the DVD in it prompts me for a "product code" and I can't find this anywhere... not in "my garmin" or anywhere - any idea's?? |

If it's the 25 digit Product Code it is in MyGarmin, if you have registered the unit.
Log in to MyGarmin, My Maps, Manage Maps, Select the 770 from the list and it's near the bottom

| When you originally installed it did you register it with the Garmin site? - if so you should be able to follow the on screen links to your information profile which will contain the code - I had to do exactly this only the other week when I re-installed MapSource to my new PC. All it required was my e-mail address IIRC - Mike |

No its not the "unlock code" I have that....
its I think, an 8 digit code that I cant ID.
will call Garmin on Monday  |

MyGarmin, myProducts, click on your 770, Registration Code: xxxxxxx
However everytime i've installed MapSource it's always been the 25 digit Unlock Code you use. Can you post a screen shot of the screen asking for the code? |

Quite often it is the code that comes on an orange certificate with the unit/DVD.
It is usually needed within My Garmin so a record may be there!
Also look within MapSource on your main PC - Utilities - View installed unlock codes. |

thanks Paul, but it asks for "product code" this is a n 8 digit code as if you put in 7 digit install at bottom does not light up....I have looked and tried all code in my garmin. haven't a clue how to do a screen shot 
but it is a small blue box with black heading......

please enter your product key supplied to you with installation disk.
Product key: (white box) Sample (green slip with numbers in)

Ok so it ws supplied with the disk. Neither of strumble's idea any use?
My Update DVD didn't come with a code and uses the 25 digit Unlock Code. |

Because thats what I did on my PC and it works perfectly.
I have older non NT 2009 software for 2610 on both computers, but I don't think that matters. I don't think you need a "full" version, if you have already paid for mapping on 7xx unit. I think PC use is treated differently to navigation use.....
Or maybe not God only knows!
tried as you suggested and none on mapsource are 8 digit codes.....I am sure I can resolve this with technical support come Monday |
