This is kinda getting annoying as every time i change a poi to the correct place I find that when i go back a few month later it's back to it's old position and taking me to the wrong road ,it must surely add to your workload of people moving poi's then someone else moving it back to where the shop sits and not the entrance like I do ...my perfect example is Waitrose burgess hill id 5911 as it stands at the moment it takes you to the receiving gate where there is no parking and a maize of 1 way streets .Where as the entrance is where Wilkinson ID:186949 ..... What I'm getting is there must be a way to make it a permanent change so no-one can change it back it will save you a lot of time in the long run

Every time you make a change to a POI, the ID changes. My guess is that on the database, what really happens is that the old POI is deleted, and a completely new one created.

Your example of Waitrose with an ID of 5911 is a very old ID indeed, which gives me the impression that it was never actually changed in the first place - I don't think it has been constantly moving backwards & forwards.

Having looked at the location that you talk about, I see that Waitrose is now next to Wilkinsons, and currently has an ID of 199582, so the change has clearly now been made.

Someone will correct me if i am wrong, but if you submit a change to an existing POI the ID stays the same.

Each change is logged as a new ID.

The original is retained, referenced to the new ID, to maintain continuity and a history line.

In which case..... as Andy c-1 is discussing the original number (ID 5911), has it possibly:
a. never been changed, or
b. been changed but somehow he has reverted back to an old download of the POI file (by restoring a backup maybe?)??

a). It shows as having never been changed, until today.

b). Don't know .... but I would have thought the DB would be mirrored to overcome any such problems.

In which case... back to the OP! Andy?

Sorry, I wasn't clear... I meant that Andy might have restored a backup on HIS machine and hadn't realised it could have reverted to a version of the POI file BEFORE he made his changes.
