Mapsource v6.13.7 to Streetpilot i3 v3.10 Crash

I've created a 350Mb map set and I've been trying to download it to the i3. It repeatedly crashes while 'building traffic files', before the transfer takes place. I have succeeded with a smaller 140Mb map set, and failed with a much larger 750Mb map set.

Is there a unstated maximum size Mapsource can handle?

Is there anything I can do to reduce the chance of crashing?

I've tried creating various Mapsets, some as small as 100Mb, and all crash as soon as the Building Traffic Files 10% message appears.

I've tried creating non overlapping mapsets to see if there is a particular map element that is causing the crash, but they still crash.

Any thoughts or suggestions very welcome.
