Hi, I have just downloaded the latest camera database into my Nuvi.
Fixed and mobile gatso are working OK, but I have 2 problems.
Redlight cameras are on the display but not giving a warning.
The variable limit cameras on the westerm M25 are not alerting at all.
Any ideas?

Right. My guess is you downloaded the Single File Database.

Can you try the Consolidated Database - it's considered a better choice for the Nuvis.

I'll contact the Database Admin about the Single File Download....

Thanks. I'll give it a go and try it in the morning.
Actually, just had a look and I had the speed zoned download.

Ok. In the past it has occurred with the Single File Download...

So, have you done anything to the files? Re-named them? Put them into folders?

I'll have a look at the Single File and Speed Zoned later.....

I'm never sure about mucking about with the Garmin and files, I just
extracted the downloaded file to a POI folder along with all the other POIs.
It's a lot easier on the TomTom.

Definately Speed Zoned?

You have files with names like

pocketgps_uk_gatso_20.csv
pocketgps_uk_gatso_30.csv
etc

and not

pocketgps_uk_cameras

?

pocketgps_uk_gatso_30.csv

Cheers. I'll have a play with the databases tomorrow.

Edit: Another question - sorry - What version of POILoader are you using? Open POILoader and single click the small icon at the top left, select About POILoader.

The latest version is 2.5.2.0 and is available here

This all sounds odd. I am at work now so I can't check the version, but I only downloaded it a couple of days ago so I assume it is the latest one. On my way in this morning I got no redlight or variable again, I got a ping on the temp and fixed gatso. as a test I switched on the original Garmin Safety Camera alerts, and the variable on the M25 popped up straight away, also, with both switch on, a fixed gatso that was moved a few yards a while ago pinged twice with the Garmin alerts switched on. I don't think it's a h/w fault. I will try to reload it tonight, and this time do it manually, I used express load last night, the time before I did it manually, but using the default 'speed over 0' setting, I'll try using the 'distance' setting this time.
The folder I am using for the Poiloader is just called POI.
It's a Nuvi 300.
If I am the only one having the problem, I will have to assume it is something stupid I am doing. I will have a thorough re-read of the instructions. I may not have noticed it before as it is only recently that I switched off the Garmin Safety alerts to stop double pings.

After checking the Speed Zoned DB it appears I get the initial proximity alert (banner and bong) but no overspeed bong for the Variable Cams or Redlight.

have you updated the firmware on the nuvi recently?

if so what version (and date) are you running? nothing at all has changed at our end with the files yet paul is seeing similar oddities... his firmware was updated 27th may...

it appears to work fine though when using ash10's camera manager so perhaps it is an issue with garmin's handling of the csv data?

try converting to gpx using ash10's utility or, as i prefer, using cbrom's gpx convertor (can manually edit files rather than relying on CM to download it)

Thanks. I updated the firmware last week, so again, although I don't know the rev number I guess it's the latest one.
Out of interest, does Paul have the Garmin Speed camera tick box on?.
I wonder if I should just try deleting the Garmin stuff and see what happens.
In the Poi folder on the unit I have the following files.

poi.gpi
safety_camera_UnitedKingdom.gpi
safety_camera_UnitedKingdom.unl

If I get the s/w, am I converting the poi.gpi to gpx?. Or should I have different files for poi's and cameras?.
Feel free to point me at some instruction pages if this is all obvious stuff, I'm a computer analyst, I've just never mucked about with the satnav s/w.

No. Laughing

I would try using Ash10's Camera Manager from here

Don't run it yet.

Delete any PGPSW Speed Cams you have an make sure you are logged into the PGPSW Site. Then run Camera Manager (CM) - it'll load in the system tray, just right click and make sure Garmin is ticked and then click Settings..... CM will find your POI directory and download a copy of the Single File Database into it. Then depending on your preferences it will produce a load of GPX files. You can alter the timings of the alerts for both Proximity and Over-speed and the way the database is shown. I find Use Speed Camera Type icons works best for Garmin units - this is the equivalent to the Consolidated DB. Once you make any changes they don't take effect until you click Apply. Then give it a second or two to make the files.

Once CM has done it's magic, close CM and upload your POI directory again with POILoader. You'll notice the files are huge in comparison to the PGPSW download and consequently it'll take a few minutes to load. It'll look like the PC has frozen, just wait.....

Then test the alerts.

Then each time PGPSW announces a new database just open CM let it download the DB and produce the new GPX files and then upload.
