Custom Sound Files For POI and Share GPS

I currently use TomTom version 6 on the Fujitsu LOOX N560. However I am finding that I am finding more and more times when the maps are not upto date enough. I believe that TomTom are not releasing any more updates to the PDA maps and that I can not use the maps for the One or Go units. I do not want to buy another piece of equipment just to have upto date maps when the PDA is capable of completing the task.

I am therefore investigating other software. Currently CoPilot Live v7 fit most of my requirements.

I have spoken to support at ALK (and found them to be EXCELENT Very Happy

) TomTom please take note. Support like ALK does gain and keep custom.

The only point that I need which is still unresolved is whether or not CoPilot allows (or can be modded - this was suggested by support as may be possible if knew which sound files to mod - but would not be officially supported) to allow for custom sound files. For example on a motorway when there is a service station coming up I currently have an announcement that say 'There is a service station ahead', for petrol stations 'Petrol ahead' or other relevant sound files. Also the speed cameras announce the relevant speed. I find that this facility aids driver safety and I do not have to look at screen to find out what the POI is.

The question is therefore can the sound files be modified for individual POI categories (not just one standard sound for all POIs).

If this is not possible does CoPilot allow the use of GPS sharing. The LOOX N560 has the ability (although I have not tested this) to share the GPS between several programs. Is it possible to use another program such as POI-Warner (which is for TomTom) to announce POIs from in the background.
