Hi
I have my first sat nav nuvi 200w and all seems fine to date.
What I need to know if possible as follows

I want to use the M6 Toll road around Birmingham (England) from the North end but my sat nav will only allow me to stay on the main M6.

I have tried to force a detour but it still points me back onto the Main route.

Any help appreciated
Thanks for the helpful forum

How is it stopping you? Laughing

As Andy says, just take the M6 Toll and once on it the Nuvi will recalculate.

I can send you a POI file with POIs for the M6 Toll is you wish and you can use that as a via point.

Thanks for reply
I guess you are suggesting setting my route, then joining the Toll road by ignoring the set route, but picking up the route later after exiting the Toll road.

Makes sense Wink

Yes. I often do this when local knowledge is "best"...

Exactly.
I always have my sat-nav 'on' even when I'm driving to work. My preferred route deviates from the calculated one several times on the journey, but I just go the way I know is best and the sat-nav recalculates a new route within a couple of seconds.

Similarly, to get from my house to the M25 or the M3 it always wants to take me through a nearby town centre that I know is always gridlocked unless its the middle of the night. I don't bother to try to create a route going the way I want.. just drive and let it catch up with you. As Paul says, local knowledge is always best.

Thanks, and a POI for the M6 Toll would come in handy.

Very useful Forum site

Another thing to check. I don't know about the 200 but my 660 has an option to avoid toll roads. You may want to check this is not set. Of course the route on the M6 through B'ham may be the shortest or fastest route to where you are going!

As stated before - you can ignore the suggested route and it will recalculate another route - they are only an aid to navigation.
