I'm sure this is probably considered very poor form by TomTom so this is all hypothetical Wink

Having just bought a new WCE map, and having just witnessed the download crap out *again*, I'm wondering if anyone knows how to download directly from TT rather than use Home.

As long as we were logged in to TT via Home (and therefore authenticated) then, provided one knew what the link was to the file to be downloaded, it should be possible to download it using IE or better still a recoverable download manager.

I'm now trying for the third time to download my new map. I have better things to do than spend another 2 hours watching it, just in time for it to crap out with five minutes to go. I have tried all the usual fixes (emptying map folder etc) to no avail.

I recall this happening last time I tried a download too. Very annoying. Is there anything we can do to 'beat the system'?

yes, install a network monitor and check where the request goes. Sometimes your router also has this functionality (called syslog).

any changes you have antivirus software running

i had a problem... home downloaded map, passed to qntivirus for scan (took a whiloe since its 2gb file)... tomtom thought there is network timeout and returned error (while antivirus scanned the file in background)

if possible disable your antivirus for the time of map download/upgrade
