I have just downloaded the latest maps for my GO700 and am now able to incorporate mapshare and have downloaded updates already
Only problem is - how do I set items for the mapshare that I want to upload?
I am using Map 7.20 and version 7.163. _________________ Furry Fred

When you go into the Map Corrections Menu, choose Correction Preferences.
After making your choices on the first page, tap Done, and then choose either the First, or Second, Option.
Tap Done to finish.
The next time you connect to HOME it will Upload your corrections, during the Update Your Device process. _________________ Richard

Sorry to be a pain - again, but I cannot find the Map Corrections Menu. Where should I find that?

Main menu Page two /Map Corrections/Correction preferences.
If you can't see it, have you selected "show all menu options" in the last page of Main menu/Change Preferences? |

Sorry Andy, Have checked on main menu page 2 and all I have is Prepare Route, Browse Map, Clear Route, View route and Itinary Planning
I am showing all menu options!
Am I using the right software? I am using V7.162 and I am not being offered anything later on TomTom Home 2 so I must assume I am on tghe latest for my GO700 _________________ Furry Fred

Are you using a Custom Menu?
If so you might have to disable it while you set up the Preferences.
You're using the correct software. _________________ Richard

Thanks for the help Richard,
What do you mean by a "custom menu". As far as I am aware I have never used anything other than the normal - apart from a different splash screen.
How can I check this out? _________________ Furry Fred

A Custom Menu allows you to change the order of the Menu Items on a TT. It is called tomtom.mnu and sits in a Folder called SdkRegistry.
The only other thing might be that you need to set up MapShare from within HOME first. This might then make the Map Correction Preferences available.
But that's only a shot in the dark. _________________ Richard

Just to confirm, according to the chart (HERE) that TT supplied, Map Corrections SHOULD appear on a Go700's main menu.
And ITHINK that it should be there from new and when you tap it for the first time it suggests you need to set up the account in Home first.
I can't think of anything other than a custom menu that would make it disappear. Check to see if you have one by browsing that folder Mike mentioned by connecting the Go to the PC and using Windows Explorer.
A reset with a pin, is always worth a try too. |

I do have a tomtom.mnu file in SdkRegistry.
What do you suggest I do with it? - polite answers please
I have tried resetting with a pin _________________ Furry Fred

Make a copy of it somewhere, then delete it. This will reset your menu structure back to the TomTom default. I believe it's the only way to get newer functionality such as Mapshare or HelpMe onto your device.
However, you may find that you lose other (non-standard) icons as a result of doing this - hence the instruction to make a copy first! If you have any third party applications on the device, such as SunTime, QuikCam, etc, (I know you said earlier that you haven't) you are likely to lose access to them.
I'm afraid it's a choice of one or the other! |

Done it!!
In the dim and distant past I had tried POICapture found it didn't work for me and forgot about it.
tomtom.mnu deleted (as were thePOIcapture files which gave it away) and I now have Map Corrections and Help me.
I'm now a happy bunny!
Thanks for all your help

I bet there are a lot of these menu files floating around forgotten about!
Trouble is, even a software update doesn't get rid of their effects. |
