Has any other user of the x30 range noticed the compass is reversed. Whilst travelling from London to Bristol today the compass was pointing East, and on the return pointed east. North & south seem to be OK.

I thought that the x30 models ONLY had the compass pointing north ... with no way to adjust that as x20 models could.

The compass will only point North on x30 devices there is no other option available for selection, to be honest the indicator is that small I turned it off as it is as much use as a chocolate teapot compared to what we have used before - Mike

Yes agree that it's small and can only point north, but when travelling east it points west, and travelling west points east, north & south are OK.

but when travelling east it points west

So when you are travelling East it's pointing to the left or down? 9 or 6 o'clock?

Quote:
travelling west points east

Again when you are travelling West it's pointing to the right or down? 3 or 6 o'clock?

Screen shots?

That sounds right for it pointing North. Imagine the x30 lying on it's back and you looking down on it like an old magnetic compass. When travelling East, North is over your left shoulder (9 o'clock) and vice versa.

It's not showing your direction of travel which would match what you have been describing re East/West swapped over.

Can you have another go at that?? Left is 9 oclock, right is 3 oclock

Quote:
west it point right 3Oclock

Well that's right (correct) When travelling West, North is to your right (3 oclock)

Razz Ahhh well spotted I was wondering how long it would take some one to spot my mistake.... it should read:

When travelling east it points to the left, 9Oclock, and when travelling west it point right 3Oclock

What's wrong with that then?

When travelling East, North is to your left. Think about driving from Bristol to London.

When travelling West, North is to your right. Think about driving from London to Bristol.

I think this is the same "problem" that someone else decsribed.....

Re-reading the thread it appears you have got how the compass works slightly confused. You say "it's small and can only point north" but then you seem to be expecting it to point East when you are travelling East and point West when you are travelling West. It doesn't as you yourself said it always points to North.

So when you are travelling East, North is to your Left so the compass will point to the 9 o'clock position.

So when you are travelling West, North is to your Right so the compass will point to the 3 o'clock position.

It's your comment that "north & south are OK." that's shows what's confusing things. When travelling North, North is in front of you, so the needle points to 12 o'clock and when travelling South it points down-wards. BUT the reason for it pointing down-wards is not because you are travelling South but because North is behind you. It seems you are expecting the needle to point to the left when travelling West and the right when travelling East.It won't because it's not indicating the direction you are travelling in but, as you yourself said, it always points to North.
