When you say it thinks it's a Rider, is it actually saying that somewhere? Or is there just no sound?

If #2, I'd say you have to be taking it all apart again....

Try holding the reset for 30 seconds then boot it up, also can you tell us the version of software installed to the device? - have you changed the device software recently - Mike

Yes you can use the card in any of the TomTom products as long as the device has an SD card slot, avoid the latest TomTom One (Third Edition) because that relies upon internal flash memory with no expansion slot. You will also have to get TomTom to activate your recent map purchase for the new device, be prepared to send them a copy of your purchase receipt for the new unit - Mike

Wow, I know this thread is 6 months old, but I've got the same problem!!!

It has happened a few times to my original tomtom one over the last year, but I could never find anyone else reporting the same problem, and each time I've managed to get it back to normal eventually. It always happens after I have dropped the unit. It happened again tonight, but luckily it was in the case when I dropped it coming into the house.

Now it's asking to connect to a bluetooth headset, and it's allowing me to get to the screen to dial phone numbers etc! It's just let me download my phone numbers onto the tomtom one! Now this is weird.

Like I said it only happens when it gets a knock - I used to mount it on the big plastic speedo on my mini, but it was always falling off - most times it would then think it was a Rider, and I would have to reset it over and over again, sometimes holding the reset button down for several minutes until it would work. Confused

Anyone else experienced this?! Anyone got a theory why it would act like this? I need to use my Tomtom tomorrow so will probably spend half the night resetting it. Sad

What a brilliant post!
I must admit I've never heard of a One turning into a Rider after a bit of a bump before, but I'm prepared to believe anything about TomTom's these days!

Do they have the same internals? Wonder if there's a switch to change "mode"?

Interesting. I replaced the battery on my TomTom One v1 this week and it seems to be fine. When it boots up it welcomes me to my TomTom ONE.
