Hello,

Just joined the forum and theres LOADS of info here, But i have got a few questions that im sure have been answered hundreds of times before but i thought i would ask them all in one go Embarassed Embarassed

I bought a Garmin Nuvi300t and these are my questions....

1) I registered on mygarmin and it said i was eligible for a free update. This arrived and it says "map update 2008 city navigator Europe NT"---Now my unit is uk and ireland only so if i install this will i get all of europe? and will i loose any detail from the uk mapping?

2) I want to install some SAINSBURY poi's as thats who i deliver for am i better doing this to an SD card or straight to the unit?

3)can i use any SD card and what size do i need to ddownload say the sainsbury poi and low brige info?

4)if i download the sainsbury poi will it delete all other pois preloaded on the unit?

I know, i know im sure all this info is alrady outthere but you've got to ask!! Laughing

Cheers in advance
Very Happy
BONES

Hi and welcome.

1) If you have the room you can fit all of Europe onto the unit however if you only have UK and Ireland now i suspect you'll only have room for the new UK and Ireland. It might be possible to add the maps to an SD card but i can't speak from experience.

2) The POIs are tiny so you might as well add to the unit. I have over 30,000+ POIs in a 2.5 Mb file.

3) See 2. I believe it'll support upto 2 Gb SD Cards.

4) No. The built in ones are a part of the map data. However if you load the Sainsburys one and then want to add say BP Fuel you need to add them both again together. POILoader will delete all your Custom (i.e. non-built in) POIs before adding new ones.

Yes I have done this. The procedure is update the UK and Ireland maps. This will install an application on your PC called MapInstall. You will need an SD card, mine is 2GB and comfortably holds all of Europe (you could get a 1GB card and install a subset of Europe but the costs difference is so small I don't see the point). Then use MapInstall to load the selected regions of Europe onto the SD card (it takes quite a long time perhaps 90 minutes).

It can be quicker if you do it via a card reader on the PC. Just create a blank folder named 'Garmin' and MapLoader should find it.

MapLoader??? I know about MapInstall, MapSource and POI Loader but haven't heard of MapLoader.
