Hi All,

I have run the search for these problems, and none actually match it.

Well I spotted a new mobile camera site the other day, so I used the quick menu to save the position and I got the message "unable to save map data file access error" or words to that effect.

I am using the TMC cable and this does seem to be part of the cause. I say this because when I took the unit inside rebooted it would let me store favourites again. I then went back to the car and again it would no longer let me use the save as favourite option, same error shown "unable to save map data file access error".

I then thought I would backup, format, restore. I recently had problems with the speech locking up when using the unit in Bluetooth operation, following Dennis N's directions I backed up, formattted reinstalled everything to try to reslove this. Unfortunatley it did not work, it still does it AARRRGGHHH!

So I now try to make a new backup so I have all my POI's shutdown screen, map.cfg, so I can reinstall those bits later.

I then get on windows explorer via copy and paste "GNS Data" cannot copy file is corrupt or damaged" what is the file for? Obviously I have the original file on my day 1 backup, but I am curious.

All replies welcome,

That file is TMCrelated, when you are experiancing the problem is the device powered by the car charger or not?
If not try using the car charger (make sure the ignition is on, or the charge light is lit on the 920), the additional power needed by the RDS-TMC might be causing an issue if the battery is not at 100% and being suplemented by the cars electrical power - Mike

Hi Mike,

Thanks for your reply,

I did a full format, reinstall from day 1 backup, then tried it after making sure the unit was powered. The favourites will now store without the error message.

Now when planning a route with the TMC warning of delays I asked it to "Minimise Delays" it searches then says "No Route Found" I then tried other routes with traffic problems, same result. It goes from one problem to another!!

The thing is I do like the unit, but these little bugs are annoying, no other units seem to have quite the same feature set as the Tomtoms, which is wht I guess they are number 1 despite the bugs!

I have been looking at the top of the range Garmin though as someone wants to buy my 920T off me, so its the new Garmin 780 or the 930T (Glutton for Punishment).

Tim has answered your other post asking the same question about the delay related information, simple fact is the current software doesn't correctly read the delay information so the minimise delays function is about as much use a chocolate fire guard, we hope a new release of software will fix the problem though - Mike

Hi Mike,

Thanks again, just read Tims reply, seems the unit is OK in that respect,
