Bracket broken on Garmin nuvi 250 W

Has anyone else had this problem?

The small black plastic parts inside the circular socket that holds the ball in when fixing onto the windscreen has broken. The unit is less than a year old and I have sent a request to Garmin to send a new one - am awaiting a reply....

I did have a street pilot and the same thing happened but it was part of the unit then so I brought this one as a replacement I hoped that the new improved design would not create the same problem.
I haven't mistreated it - and honestly haven't used it that much due to illness.. so I don't know why those parts should break off....

If anyone else has had this problem I would be keen to know and also how it was resolved?
