sat nav with updateable maps?

in the market for a new system, need 1 that has up-to-date maps and that can also be updated later

ps only looking to spend £125 tops

A New TomTom ONE can be had for about £129. No digital map is 'up to date', they're at least 12- 24 months old by the time they are processed and released to manufacturers.

I've also moved this from in-car systems.

If you want an inbuilt system within your budget forget it, this would cost at least five times what you are looing to spend. Have a look at the TomTom One range, easy to use and updates to the maps seem to be occuring more and more frequently these days - Mike

what the best (cost wise) for new maps? my current gnav10 is gona cost my around £90 for new maps.............................i can get a new system for that Rolling Eyes

A One Third Edition comes with a map guarantee card which gives you the latest map available for the device when you purchase it, this guarantee is valid for 28 days.

Future update costs can vary between £29:95 to £39:95 for the UK map, if you purchase the slightly dearer Europe version the updates are also more costly, but you could always add a UK map to the Euro map the device was supplied with to save cash.

One other feature of the device is "Map Share" where you can add details to the map and share these with other users for upto 12 months, the idea is your device is automatically updated via the internet when connected to the PC. This won't add roads etc, but it will add details such as POI data, and junction changes/ one way alterations etc - Mike

I would look at Tomtom or Garmin both offer map updates and are well supported and as Darren said the Tomtom one at £129 may be suitable or the Garmin 250 wide at £124 !!!my preference would be the Tomtom

You need to have a look at these at a shop to see which is more suitable
