Today I copied a load of MP3's onto my TT520. There was about 10-20mb remaining on the SD card.

Afterwards the unit worked fine, but the voice recognition stopped working. When it prompted me to speak, nothing happened, no matter how loudly I spoke. It was like the mic had packed in.

I wondered if there needed to be a certain amount of space free for the voice recognition to work. So, I removed all the MP3's from the device and sure enough if started working again.

However, I then copied all the MP3's back onto the SD card, and the voice recognition is still working ok. I have tested it extensively and it seems ok now.

So, any ideas why it stopped working? I've heard a couple of people had this problem but never found out why or how they fixed it.

I'm one where it has stopped working for no apparent reason at least three times.

First time, I put it down to having copied a MapSettings file from an old machine without TTS/voice recognition (to get my old favourites back). Replaced the file with the day one backup version AND did a factory reset to get it going again.

Second time I did the same and it worked, but as I hadn't replaced the MapSettings file this time I couldn't blame that.

Third time I had just dropped it, so was sure I must have physically broken the mic. Restoring a backup from a week before fixed it though.

I put it down to the same gremlins that makes it forget all the POI alerts sometimes.
