I've just been looking at a TomTom support page about deleting the root files when they need re-installing and one line took my eye. The bold is mine.

Do not delete the files antitheftw.bmp, lowbatteryw.bmp and splashw.bmp (if present)!

I've made a quick file with that name and stuck it in the root folder but can't test it as yet (charged the thing up overnight). Also, don't know which software version is required to make use of it.

Hopefully, it just flashes up then leaves the small battery icon flashing afterwards on the navigation screen but I just don't know.

If anyone has a low battery and wants to quickly test it, just make a bmp file the same size as the splashw.bmp etc and have a go.

lowbatteryw.bmp doesn't seem to get used when you are navigating and the battery is running low.

It only seems to get used if the battery is already very low when you switch the unit on, then it gets displayed for a few seconds before the unit switches itself off again because there is not enough battery to power up.

Yes, on my 720 the first time you see the "lowbatteryw.bmp" screen is about 3 seconds before the unit dies through lack of power. Pretty useless really....

For devilment, I had considered replacing the original image with a screen that said something like "3...2...1.... Byeeeee!"
