On my 520 device I have:
Safety_Cam_UK_TomTom.ov2
Safety_Cam_UK_TomTom.ov2.dct
Safety_Cam_UK_TomTom.ov2.ver
and from the downloads folder I've found:
Safety_Cam_UK_(30-70)_TomTom.toc
Safety_Cam_UK_(30-70)_TomTom.rar containing the same 3 files thats on the TomTom but with the 30-70 prefix in the filename.
Whats the difference not that I'm using the TomTom cams, just curious.

I'm no expert, but a rar file is like a zip(winzip) file, it compresses files, for quicker downloads, on this site they use winzip. You then open the file and take out the contents. OV2 is the actual data, (Speed camera database), not sure about the rest.

The .toc (table of contents) and .rar (archive) files are what was downloaded.

They would be un-compressed to create the actual files used on the machine which are:

the .ov2 (the actual data (but encrypted unlike ordinary .ov2 POI files)),

the .ver ("version" file, used by Home to tell you what release version it is)

and the .dct which I don't know about, but is again just a small file that I assume tells the operating system something that it should be doing with the main .ov2 file

Sorry I should of explained a bit better, I understand what a RAR file is and alike but my query was should I have on my 520 what appears to be a consolidated speed camera files:
Safety_Cam_UK_TomTom.ov2
Safety_Cam_UK_TomTom.ov2.dct
Safety_Cam_UK_TomTom.ov2.ver
or speed zoned files:
Safety_Cam_UK_(30-70)_TomTom.ov2
Safety_Cam_UK_(30-70)_TomTom.ov2.dct
Safety_Cam_UK_(30-70)_TomTom.ov2.ver
Thanks.

That's a different list!
Are you saying that is what IS on your machine or just what you THINK you should have?

I just have the three files
Safety_Cam_UK_TomTom.ov2
Safety_Cam_UK_TomTom.ov2.dct
Safety_Cam_UK_TomTom.ov2.ver
and they are not a "consolidated" version. TomTom's own database doesn't work like PGPSW's.

From just those three files you get categories "Fixed", "Mobile" (Hah!), "Redlight" etc. but you also get the speed limit signs on screen.

I said above what I think the rar and toc files are. If it really worries you, try deleting those two files and I think you'll find it all works just the same without them. Obviously best to just move them elsewhere until you are satisfied you don't need them.

The .dct file tells the tomtom how to decode the information in the .ov2 file. It works in the same way as the .dct file which comes with a version 7XX map.

If you copy the speed camera files to another device they wont work because the .dct file wont be correct for that device. It's designed to prevent piracy.
