Much has been made of the lack of memory on the new v3,especially as it's an internal one

I'm looking at buying a TT1 v3 Europe, and to be quite honest,I don't want to put this poi on,and that poi on,but what I want to do is download the UK speed camera database off this site, and as when needed, the European one,and use it for what it was designed for, getting form A to B.

Will the current internal memory be able to take this,or should I look at something else? (Like a Garmin.)

In any TomTom that comes as standard their will be enough memory to put the PGPS site on it because the site is not very large in size. I cant remember the size of the GB or the EU but there will be enough room on the unit you buy.

Thanks for that Ian.

Despite it's shortcomings,I think I'll plug for it,but will have a look at the Nuvi 250 as well, before committing 100%.

At the end of the day,no system is going to make everyone happy, and I've just had 3 years of excellent service form my Navman 610,which I've just sold, and that was not without it's own quirky faults, but I got on extremely well with it,once I got used to it.

Hopefully I'll take a look at systems at Halfrauds this afternoon, and then come home and order it online for that always welcome discount, unless they'll give me it in the shop.

Have a read of This Thread which details the memory fitted into the regional One Third Edition (to use its correct name avoids confusion the various v3, v4, v5 numbers just misleads people).

With no memory card slot the One Third Edition relies upon internal Flash Memory, 512MB of it is supplied with this regional model. This cannot be upgraded or supplemented; it is all you have for the application, voices, POI files and maps. That said only 221MB is actually in use when new. You are left with 277MB to use, this amount can be increased by preening the memory of files and folders that are not required for day to day operation of the unit. Voice files can be deleted, lets face it if you are using a UK based device why carry voices that you will never use? This alone can save 50MB.

IIRC the speed camera database only takes up a tiny 500kB, so NO space problems there!

Went into the local Halfrauds, and had a look at the TT1 v3 Europe, and noticed it was on sale at £159.99,so I grabbed a monkey, and asked him if he would match the price on the website, (£132.) and he trotted off to get an organ grinder.

Came back and said, 'Sorry sir,but we can't match the price on our own website!!!!!!' Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked

'OK then,' said I, 'It's looking like you won't be getting my business,' and off I went.

What he did say was, that any special discount code promotions,of which this was one that I had quoted to him,are only available on line, even though it's a Halfrauds promotion.

How daft is that.

Can you not buy on line and reserve one for in shop purchase to take advantage of the offer?
Better still is to purchase on line while in the actual shop whilst the manager is watching using your mobile phone, it is quite easy to do and certainly annoys them Cool - Mike

I went into my local Halfords and asked the same. Told they could not price match their own site.... went home ordered online to pickup in store and went back and got it at the web-price without problems. Had to go to the parts desk which is also the collection one.

The voucher price is only availalble via delivery,as I found out.

As luck would have it,I'm in no rush to get it anyhow, because the guy that has bought my Navman, has sent me a cheque, and I would reckon that by the time the cheque has cashed,my TT should have arrived.

However,be careful,as when you come to the checkout, and you enter the voucher code, you must verify it,to qualify for the discount.I didn't,and ended up paying the £159.99,so I'll ring them tomorrow, (Yes,they are open online.) and tell them I've dropped a clanger, and hope they'll refund the difference.

Even if they won't,I'm still getting it for a VERY good price, after what I sold my Navman for. But,Every little helps.

Mine was not a voucher price - just after Xmas that was £180 but it would not work even online. I just got the online price which was £199 but instore. I saved about £23 was the store price for the TT720 was £223.

I did have to say who I was - they didn't need the order reference.

Result. Very Happy Very Happy

Just rung Halfrauds online up,and they are going to refund me the £27 difference for the online voucher code.

So I've managed to get a TT1 v3 Europe,for circa £100,with what I sold my Navman for.

One happy bunny.

Just went in store to see if they can match the online price, same story they can’t match it. So just found a site http://www.findsatnavdeals.com/ and got a discount code too. They did me a favour. Very Happy

Halfords will not price match. What people need to do is order online and have the order as collect at store. You cannot just walk in off the street.
