When I was a RDS-TMC newbie (just a few weeks ago) I suffered this. Turned out very simply I hadn't shoved it in far enough - I found almost a double click of it connecting and when I pushed it all the way in, it came to life.

Dennis
Sorry for jumping in...but I'm looking to move away from the Medion.
Simple question...is the 520 (T?) up to the mark?
Would you reconmend it???

Cheers

I dunno about the 520 Dave - I've got two 720s and one 920.

I love em, warts and all. They're not perfect, but better than anything else. The T bit doesn't work at the moment (traffic aerial thingy), but hopefully they are fixing that (soon???) - if you care to gamble on them fixing the T bit, it'll be cheaper to get the 520T than getting a T bit later. For hands free phone (including phone book, caller display and receive and send SMS messages from the TomTom on-screen keyboard), you need a compatible phone (my "Old as the Ark" Nokia 6230i is perfect, but nobody else in the world has a phone that old, except TomTom - I think it was introduced the day I was born!).

Yes, I'd recommend it, but do be just a little aware that some of us also slate TomTom quite fiercely at times!

Thanks Dennis!..going to go off topic (a bit) sorry....
I'm sat here with my 6230i with a 2Gig Card in..for mp3s etc (which is great..apart from getting detritus behind the screen!!!)...I only upgraded to that because the 6210(i) ...{which is tucked away safe & sound!!!} car kit became obsolete!!
SO...I (if I remember & understand the spec' rightly) I could bluetooth my toons from the phone..to the satnav & then (via FM) to my car sterio????
I currently use the car kit for that...but it's too low down to see (safely) & just at the right height to take on a front passanger's knee..in the event of an accident! So will bin it asap!
The 't' thingy isn't working..I assume that's everyone's..is that correct?
If so, when would the fix be completed pls?

Many Thanks
Dave N

As an ignoramus, I'm pretty sure there's no way you can play toons from phone via TomTom to FM stereo. You can put your 2GB SD card into TomTom and play them there via the FM stereo (just get format etc right - easy peasy - PM me to save this poor guy's topic!)

Correct, nobody's T thingy is working. We all hope TT will fixit soon

Dennis is quite correct, you cannot play tunes on the phone and expect the audio to route via the TomTom to the car deck, the TomTom will only accept Handsfree profile from a mobile phone.
The handsfree audio for phone call will only come out of the TomTom's built in speaker, the unit will not send a handsfree call via the car deck irrespective of chosen method to connect. (Bluetooth HIFi, Line Out, FM Tx)

Simply put the mp3 tracks in the mp3 folder on the device (if there is room) or fit an SD card with the required capacity, the x20 and newer x30 units all accept SDHC cards so they will take anything upto 16GB which is currently the largest confirmed card size to work with the device (read only, to write to a card larger than 4GB requires the use of a compatible card reader in the PC or addaptor)

The only other method to control and play music via the TomTom is via a connected iPOD, if you have one but you cannot connect it to the TomTom and charge it at the same time.

As for the traffic receiver, we are hopeful this will be resolved sooner rather than later, reception issues are much improved these days but the way the device handles the information is flawed. You can stil see the problems but the duration of each associated delay is missing/ wrong.

I split parts of this thread as it had tuned into a thread within a thread, it more than justifies its own existance IMHO - Mike
