Navigon USA provide update 1.2 for their new PNDs

NAVIGON’s Software Update Release 1.2 is compatible with NAVIGON 7100, 5100 and 2100/2120 devices. The newly launched NAVIGON 2100 max/2120 max GPS navigators come equipped with these improvements already integrated. The update will be launched in stages for the different NAVIGON devices on the following dates:

· NAVIGON 5100: Now available

· NAVIGON 2100/2120: April 22

· NAVIGON 7100: May 14



NAVIGON’s Software Update Release 1.2 delivers:

· Enhanced routing performance to get you to your destination easier and quicker than ever before

· Better handling of HOV and carpool lanes to exclude restricted lanes for normal routing

· Updated ZAGAT POI data

· Updated user interface

o New highway icons for Canadian highways on relevant products

o Improved performance when navigating between menu screens

o Simplified main screen, larger state selection buttons, revised text strings and better recognizable menu icons

o Easier to use ZAGAT POI screens make it simple to find your top rated destination

o Added street names to 3D maps by default

· Revised voice prompts for highway entrance and exit ramps

· More precise Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA)

o Proper handling of Leap Year and Daylight Saving Time to show correct ETA

· Complimentary new map

Since only the 5100 owners have access to this new firmware, us 7100 owners would appreciate any early feedback. Is it a real improvement on routing, and user interface? And what is the actual map date for the first maps, I would hope first qtr 08. Any new bugs introduced by the upgrade, does it still fit on 2GB card?
