Ok, I bought this unit in October for my wife's christmas present, got it out of the box, and set it all up and chaged the battery works just great.
Then on Christams day, after being unwrapped, the unit does not recognise the sd chip. I charge it up again and update the unit from tomtom home, not it just hangs.
What do I need to do to get it back to at least the factory settings.

Have you tried pressing the reset button on the underside of the device? - Mike |

Mike Hi,
I have tried this, and up to 30 secs, but still the same problem. It was working well. Until I left it until christmas.

If the TT you have has an SD card( I cant remember) make sure that the lock tab has not been moved to the lock position by accident. If that is ok and a factory reset did'nt work you might need to take it back or send it to TT.

Hi it does have an sd card and tried both settings, the annoying thing is that it did work, wether the battery ran out and this has caused the problem.
Thanks

Although you purchased this unit in October, it appears to be an older One v2 model (no internal chip - must run off of an SD card). So it would appear that your SD card is somehow corrupted. As you appear not to have made a backup, I think you should call TomTom customer service. |

Hi,
I have been looking at this and you are right its a V2, with an sd card, if I were to say download a new map on a different sd card would this work.
Thanks
Alan
I will speak to TT customer service on Thursday. Thanks |

Hi, posted the v2 off on the just before new year, and it arrived back 8th, and with the unit being fully checked, it works realy well, not sure what they did, but hey it works.
Yes I have taken a TT Home back up, and yes a copy of the SD card also.
Thanks for your help.

If you have not already done so you should have a look at the FAQ's in this thread. It might help you before you run into any future problems and give you a better idea of the device you have. _________________ NEW Tomtom GO 500 (hope it is good)

The standard advice is to do backups with Windows Explorer, not just Home. It's been know not to back up everything and some have had problems restoring using it.
See the FAQ question #1. _________________ Gerry
