ViaMichelin, .xvm files and related matters

I have used ViaMichelin to create an 'on foot' itinerary between 2 points, saved this itinerary in My ViaMichelin and would like to upload it to my GPS, a Garmin Etrex Vista.

Please note that I own neither a car nor a ViaMichelin SatNav device.

I had understood that it is possible to 'send' or export an itinerary, or at least way-points, from ViaMichelin into a file with .xvm format. However, when I do this, using the 'Send to GPS' command on the ViaMichelin webpage, and then open the .xvm file, the only way-points in the file are the first (origin) and last (destination).

What has happened to all the way-points in between?

Is there some other way of saving such an itinerary so that all the intermediate way-points are saved in the .xvm file?
