Has anyone noticed routing anomolies with Miomap 3.2 - established routes changing for no apparent reason (routing paramaters not changed and no TMC information)?
I tend to use Miomap for even established routes because of TMC information and I've noticed in the past week or so that 1 route has changed and for no apparent - I'm directed down a dead end road.
Oddly I notice that this only happens when the unit is in the car and plugged in to the car power supply (with or without TMC). It doesn't happen when the unit is either unplugged from the car power supply or plugged in to an USB power supply.
Is it possible that problems with a power supply could lead to the unit's processor or software behaving differently? Alternatively I wonder if it is a problem with the unit's processor (I've been getting more "fatal errors" recently). The unit is also 1 week past warranty! |

I've had this issue once only on one journey - strangely, though, on this occasion I was routed along the route I generally take (avoiding traffic etc) rather than the route the Mio thinks I should take.
What I put it down to is possibly a TMC glitch because there was traffic on the Mio route prior to turning the unit off, although nothing was showing for the journey in question.
When the unit is not powered via the USB port, TMC is also inactive
Could it be left over traffic info from an earlier journey?
Does your Mio recognise the dead end as a dead end or does it think it's a viable route?
Have you tried a hard reset on your Mio to see if this resolves the issue? _________________ Andy

Thanks (again) for the help.
No, this is what makes me think there's a hardware problem: the problem was still present even after a hard reset and no TMC at all (I deleted the route a number of times just to be sure).
It is odd that Miomap doesn't recognise the route as a dead end.
I had noticed previously, when travelling in the opposite direction, that Miomap would occasionally try to route me down the dead end in the opposite direction. I put this down, like you, to old TMC information or something similar. But this problem is something different. I suspect a hardware fault given the number of fatal errors recently (although these have tended to be in the same or similar geographical location).
Better get saving for a new unit I guess |

Another possibility could be the cold weather and car heater set higher as a result.
I once had a problem where my actual position was several hundred yards away from the position indicated on my Mio. When I contacted Mio, they said that it might be because the unit was overheating as a result of the car heater.
Is your Mio placed near a vent in your car?
Have you had the heater in your car on higher in this cold weather?
Does your Mio feel warmer than usual when you remove it from its mount?
Perhaps you could try changing the direction of air flow from the heater (ie to your face or feet and away from the windscreen) for a journey or part of a journey (or perhaps put a barrier between the air vent and your Mio) and see if that helps _________________ Andy

Thanks for this.
I had to leave the device in the boot of a car in an airport car park for a week or so recently and I guess that this may have caused the problems - the temperature did drop to below freezing.
It seems to be working okay(ish) now in terms of routing although there are "fatal errors" happening pretty frequently. Probably fubar.
Btw, has anyone else had problems accessing the Mio camera database - my subscription expired last week but for about 3 months I was unable to download updates. |
