How recent are the TomTom Maps?

Just checked my Go300 maps and they are version 7.1 which (according to TomTom) is the latest UK maps. - However they don't seem to have changed since I bought the unit about 3 years ago!

For example - the A6540 Bingley Bypass is not in the map database. - Havce I gone mad or is it still a few years out of date?

This is a popular repeat question. Maps are NEVER up to date, simply "latest". The data is updated and (presumably) offered by the map supplier (Teleatlas) to the user (Tom Tom) who may or may not take it at that time - maybe they'll wait until the next one rather than get new ones every few months? When they DO take the update, they then have to convert the data into their own device's format.

It all takes time (they both say). So if your bypass was opened less than two years ago, chances are it still won't be on the map. It does vary though.
