I have just signed up for the downloads, paid the money but now find out that I cant download using my Macintosh with 10.4 Safari. What can I do? Incidently I don't have access to any other computer.

Firstly, don't panic! We're Mac users here at PocketGPSWorld so you can rest assured that anything we implement will be Mac as well as PC compatible!

You need to install Stuffit Expander if you don't already have it. This is a free download and allows you to extract the contents of our download archive files, grab it from apple's download page here.

When you download using Safari you will get a 'Decompression Failed' error message. This is because Safari tries to extract the file using OS X's built-in Archive Utility. With Stiffit installed, all you need to do is locate the downloaded file, right-click and select Open with -> Stuffit Expander.

Any problems just shout Smile

Thanks for that, I will try it. A friend of mine let me use their PC, so I was able to get the POI after all. I down loaded the speed camera locations onto my Garmin3i, everything appears to work okay but I still have one question. While driving through Stoke-on-Trent last night the unit correctly came up with the camera positions (although not direction sensitive) but consistently displayed a warning to travel at 25mph, however the speed limit is a posted 40mph for each and every camera point, so what's going on there?

You've forgotten to change from KPH to MPH in POILoader before uploading!

You'll need to re-upload as all the speeds will be set to KPH. 40KPH = 25MPH.

Try dragging the zipfile into the Stuffit window rather than selecting File / Open?

I've no idea why this should make a difference, but I'm sure I've seen it said here before.

Also worth downloading again, just in case it got corrupted first time round.

What is the name of the file you downloaded and what version of Mac are you using?

If you right-click the file, do you get the 'Open with -> Stuffit Expander.app' option?

Are you sure that:

a) you have StuffitExpander installed

b) the speed camera database download was completed, not a partial download

If you don't already have StuffitExpander installed, the latest version can be downloaded (free) here

Alternatively, if this doesn't work, you might want to try opening StuffitExpander first and then tell it to unzip (or expand, I think it's called) the camera database.

Let us know how you get on
