I get very irritated by the constant warnings when approaching traffic lights. Can I remove these from the database without affecting the genuine speed camera data?

Whose database are you using? There shouldn't be any reason why you cannot remove the redlight warnings and just install the rest.

You need to install either the "consolidated by type" or the "full speed-zoned" version of the database (if your unit can install more than one user-POI file).

Then just install all the files EXCEPT those beginning "pocketgps_uk_redlight...."

Thanks, I hadn't realised there were two different downloads. I'm still wondering what use there is for traffic light warnings, though, unless there really are people who don't bother to stop if there's no camera.

Some Redlight cameras have a dual role as speed enforcement cameras when the lights are green.
