Camera Alerts

I've recently loaded the speed camera database onto my Navman 720. We set the camera alerts to (what we thought was ) 150 yards. However, the alerts do not sound until we are actually by the speed camera. What have I done wrong? Can anyone help, please?

In the light that a mobile unit on a motorway bridge can 'catch you' at half a mile, do you think that 150 yds is rather too close???????

On my unit with the DEFAULT settings,
a Mobile@30mph has an Alarm Range of 1585feet

On my unit with the DEFAULT settings,
a Mobile@70mph has an Alarm Range of 3697feet
