HOLUX PND'S FROM TAIWAN, A BIG MISTAKE?

I recently bought the Holux GPSmile 53 PND from Ecost.com. It seems to work ok except the map data is over a year old. I have been trying to update the info for 6 weeks now with no success. Holux will not help, Smart2gO (NOKIA navagation software) is no help either and neither is Ecost. I am now trying Teleatlas (the map generators). Has anyone had any luck updating their SD card in a Holux product with current information? I can't be the only one trying. I hope I haven't bought a throw away PND!
