I was just wondering if anyone knew where to download POI's for this device, as the factory programed ones are poor to say the least. I suspect this is the price i will pay for going for the cheap option.

Have you had a look here? You don't say what file type you need, but I suspect you'll be able to use or convert the Garmin CSV files. Please read the notes on that page carefully!
