|
|
Having read all the posts regarding SDcard upgrading, I took the plunge and bought a Kingston 2Gb (x30 speed). I formatted it in FAT and copied the files from the Tomtom card over using a card reader. I was disappointed that my Tomtom ran much slower. So I bought a Sandisk Extreme 2Gb (x133 speed) and did the same again. You may be interested in the result...
To calculate a route from the south to the north of england took:
17 secs on original card,
31 secs on Kingston (x33)
24 secs on Sandisk (x133)
BUT
17 secs on Sandisk FORMATTED AS FAT32!
So I know which I will use.

Very interesting!
Thanks for posting your results.
Anyone know what the card is likely to be formatted to when you buy it?
There's usually no need to format it again before you use it in the TomTom, but if a DIFFERENT format makes it better or worse, it might be worth it. |

I'm not in a position to do so at the mo', but if you use a card reader, select properties from right click it should give you the format (I think!!) _________________ Go Classic

Most new cards come pre-formated with FAT32. _________________ Richard

Richard.....it may be an idea to put this info in the FAQ sticky, I'm sure i've seen questions of this ilk on the various forums. _________________ Go Classic
