Hi

THanks to all your advise i have not set up tom tom kit with my Pda and all works well however i would now like to add the post codes section. i have tried the link http://www.dnote.nl/pda/poi/PoiEdit/ as suggested on these forums but it does not work. so would some kind knowledgable person please offer me a "walk through" to download the post codes manually

Do i unzip the files first, then where do i transfer them to, then which folder do they go in, do i do all this on the pc, then how do i transfer them to the PDA and which folder do they go in

I have them all over the computer at the moment but i just dont know what i am doing

I would appreciate a simple walk through if some one will spare the time

Hi pgchimp,
just to let you know that I have also tried both of the methods to load the postcodes - I spent half of yesterday trying to download all the postcodes and unzip them and got myself into a horrible mess - total disaster! I spent most of this morning trying to download via the POI-Sync method and that failed also!
Sorry I can't give you any help as I am sitting here hoping someone will throw both you and me a lifeline!!!

Tom

regarding the postcode poi, can these be put in one folder so when you open the poi , one box comes up with poi, instead of ab scotland, al anglia, b midlands ,bb northwest etc ?

If I remember rightly, putting all the points in one file will be one of:
  1. impossible - the .ov2 file format doesn't allow it
  2. guaranteed to crash TomTom Navigator 2
  3. will slow down TomTom Navigator 2 to the point where it's unusable
The POI facility just wasn't designed to cope with that many points in a single file.
