Do the Speed Cameras have to be regularly callibrated? If I got flashed could I asked when it was last callibrated and if it had never ben done, could I get off? |

Yes but it doesn't say how often the GATSO type should have their callibration checked. Surely they can lose callibration over time. What if the GATSO had been inplace for three years. Wind and Weather plus cleaning etc would surely put it out. |

If it's a Truvelo it must have the orange lens cover and you would be able to by the 'tint', or lack of it, whether it was a 'fair cop'.
Calibration must be carried out on other devices. Go back to the site and click on How they work. Read down and you will see how the calibration must be carried out. |

Yes and yes.
However, it's very likely that the camera is correctly calibrated and they will be able to produce the calibration certificate in court. They don't issue millions of tickets without knowing exactly what they are doing.
There may be loopholes in the law though, see here: http://www.pepipoo.com/
In particular, you may not be obliged to incriminate yourself by admitting you were driving at the time of the alleged offence and a number of people seem to not know who was driving the car when it was flashed. _________________ Gone fishing! |
