Garmin Nuvi 250 - street direction

Hi there
I just bought my GPS yesterday, first time using one, so far so good but I can not figure out one thing about adding address
I do all the step Where to? / Address / Province / City
When it come to Street, let's say I want 2nd Ave South....I type 2 Av and it shows me the street name as 2 (Ave N / Ave S) when I select it it shows me 2 Av North....so If I wanna 2 av south how do I change it?
It takes me to a complete different direction and happend in many streets already

I appreciate any help...when we a first using something we normally get caught on some "silly little things"
