Is there a software program for my PPC that will?
Log: Top Speed (not limited), Avarage speed and miles traveled.

I want to measure what the top speed of my motorcycle is.

General consumer GPS units may have some trouble recording highest speed with any degree of accuracy. In my experience the speed output from the GPS is only accurate when you're travelling at a reasonably constant speed - if your speed is fluctuating you find that the GPS is averaging your speed as it outputs.

It all depends on what kind of accuracy you're looking for - if you want to record that over a given journey your top speed was, say, 112mph, then a standard GPS would be fine. If you want something that will record that, say, you managed to hit 174.3mph for a very short space of time, you may require a more specialised device.

Have you considered a different approach. For approx. £20 Maplins sell a cycle speedo (yes for good old push bikes). You would need to attach a very small magnet (supplied) close to the rim of the front wheel and I imagine you might be worried about wheel balace at the speeds you envisage. There is a magnetic impulse detector to be attached to the forks (using plastic cable ties) to count the rpm of the front wheel and this info is transmitted to the readout unit.

Information from the readout includes top speed, average speed and many other items of information.

The unit only registers to a top speed of 99.9 mph (which I know is just a laugh for you) but only because of the number of digits on the readout. The way round it is to measure the circumference of your front wheel and half the reading, program this number into the unit and the results displayed (and stored) will be exactly half the actual, it is extraordinarily accurate. So provided you plan to keep below 199.8 mph you will be ok.

Works on a 1912 Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost so give it a try.
