install to cf or sd card

the map files are easy enough to install on a storage card and if necessary the program files can be installed there aswell.
what i want to know is how can i install the setup files so if my battery dies or i end up having to do a hard reset, i can simply reinstall tom tom2 and checkpoint by navigating to the storage card and clicking a setup file, can this be done as i dont want to have to resort to actiive sync all the time especially when i could be hundreds of miles from home when a disaster occurs.
any help apreciated

Why don’t you just back-up your main memory to the store card? ( I have a 2nd card which I backup too).

If you do a hard reset you just do a restore and you are back working again.

You can copy the CAB files onto your storage card and mark them read only so that you can just tap on them to reinstall - but this may not work with TomTom Navigator, as it's possible the activation code will not be restored by this method.

The best thing, in my view, is to use Sprite Backup to back your Pocket PC up to your storage card regularly. If you have an iPAQ with iPAQ Backup built in, that's a cut down version of Sprite Backup - the low cost upgrade to the full version comes with my highest recommendation.

With Sprite Backup, make sure that you write a self-executing backup (a .exe file) to your storage card - so that you can restore without a copy of the software after a hard reset.
