First post and it's a bit of a short one.

Basically looking for my first sat nav.

Only things I need are:

Accurate maps

Reasonably quick re-routing

The ability to add speed camera locations (have a subscription to this site, and I believe both are capable of this).

UK only

Full UK post code search

Nice to have:

Ability to add POI database

I've heard that the Navteq (Nuvi 300) maps can be slightly more accurate than the Teleatlas (TT).

But, the Garmin has been discountined....any particular reasons?

A recent group test suggest both are best buys, with the Garmin edging a few percent ahead of the TT in scores. Is there really any difference?

Are there any other suggestions at £150?

Thanks for any help in advance!

Welcome to the forum, out of the two devices you mention I would go for the TomTom One for the following reasons:
More upto date maps in terms or actual release date
The TT product is still being sold
TA maps are better IMHO, I have used NT mapping and there is little difference but I guess this issue will depend upon where you use the device.
The TT employs an integral GPS receiver, the Nuvi folds out, not something I like to be honest as it looks fragile.
The Garmin user interface was either written by a child or a computer boffin, in use I find it difficult, the TomTom devices have a far more intuative menu system.
Only the TomTom product can perform spoken camera alerts which are far better than a simple beep or bong, the Garmin devices can use the spoken alerts but in my experience they don't work to well, either repeating the warning or not sounding at all - the list could go on but I need to go back to the day job - Mike
