Sorry if this has been answered before peeps,at the moment i have a little TT 1v2 and i love it apart from the woeful battery life-in my job i don't always have a working 12v supply in the trucks i drive-so have been looking to buy a fairly reasonably price 710(with a better battery life) from argos for 229......but on closer inspection the website states NO ROI MAPPING!!!-i thought with most of europe involved the least they could do was stick the south of ireland in there:(As i am going to be going there a few times with my job in the next few weeks

Does this mean i gotta spend more money on a version of TT maps with the republic on it or can i just buy a map of the republic of Ireland on its own?Don't wanna shell out another £70 odd quid....and i really don't wanna buy a Garmin:(Advice appreciated thank you

My GO710 has Western Europe maps v650 and v675 (I got the latest one on the same SD card because I've got a 2Gb card). Looking at both, it looks as though ROI is on them. I'm no native, so I don't know how detailed. Maybe if you asked for a couple of streets and towns we could look for you.
The 710 is likely to come with the out of date map v650, in which case you should get onto TT to let you have a free download of v675 - or if you want better advice, tell them you want Western and Central Europe v675 instead, because it has more detailed coverage - if not of ROI, certainly of other countries in Europe (you'd need to be willing to pay the extra 10 Euros or so AND buy a bigger - 2Gb - SD card).

In the TomTom mapshop v675 is certainly advertised as having Eire on it with 99% street coverage. So you should be able to do as Dennis says and get what you need.

The towns are OK - you needed to worry about the possibility of some streets not included (but that'll always happen, nobody can be up to date with yesterday's new housing estate).
If you get the 650 map, you need to contact Tom Tom to say "Ere, wot's going on? I've got a brand new device which I bought yesterday and according to my mate, the map was superseded three months ago (675 is dated 17th April 2007). Give me a FREE new one or I'll be unhappy!" Crying
