Query about registration code for second-hand TomTom One

Afternoon guys.

If I was to purchase a second hand TomTom One, which was provided with the original registration number, can the number be used again to download updates through TomTom home?

If you want to buy new maps through "Home" you do not need any existing number as the new map comes with its own one.

If you want to download new software or plus services through "Home" you do not need any existing number anyway.

The only time you might need one is if TomTom had a map "upgrade" but they seem to have stopped doing those, or if you wanted to copy the existing map to a new SD card.

Incidentally, to avoid any confusion, TomTom refer to three different numbers:
1. The "Device Code" - the number describing your hardware - (found by tapping the satellite strength bars and then the box with the software version number in).
2. The "Product Code" - the number assigned to your Map software (on the credit card that came in the box, or came with the download of a new map).
3. The "Activation Code" - which is the number obtained from ttcode.com when you enter the Device code and product code into the on-line form. This is only needed to activate a map IF the unit asks for it.
