MyGuide 3100

Hi,
I have just been given a MyGuide 3100 off my grandad and I tried to set it up last night but it has no maps or anything on it. I have tried to upload them from the CD to the SD card (which it would not recognise until I put a different card in) and now at says the maps could not be found from the file path.
After all of this the SatNav now only turns on and it says 'fatal error' and returns to the main screen!! anyone know what i'm doing wrong?
