Do Tom Nav 1 maps use the same as T Nav 2 maps?

Hi I am about to get a GPS CF card for my 2210 and it will come with Tom Nav 1.5 and the UK maps. However I may upgrade to TomTom Nav 2 but will it use the same maps? or do I just need the program of TomTom Nav 2 and use the maps that I get with TomTom Nav 1

Hi,

You can’t use TTNav2 maps with TTNav1, or vice versa. I think the low cost upgrade period for TTNav 1 to 2 has now finished. If you obtain a legitimate copy of TTNav2 then you will get the current maps of your country included.

You will then be able to download the free upgrade to the TTNav2.24 program from the TomTom website and the GPS 2.07 driver from the Pocket GPS World website. Both upgrades are worth having.

The upgrade deal from TomTom Navigator 1 to Navigator 2 closed some time ago. TomTom Navigator 3 is probably not too far away - it remains to be seen whether Navigator 1 customers will be allowed to upgrade to Navigator 3 at a reduced price or whether any upgrade deal will only be valid for those with Navigator 2 already.

Privateer is quite right in saying that you can't use Navigator 1 maps with Navigator 2 or vice versa.


You can still download the latest (and probably last) version of TomTom Navigator 1, which is version 1.53, at http://www.tomtom.com/support/ce/support/download_navigator.php - this page is no longer linked to the rest of the TomTom site and may disappear at any time. That page has not been updated for GPS 2.09 - though some would say that's a good thing!

Some have reported problems using Navigator 1 on Pocket PC 2003 - it's not officially compatible. There have been a couple of forum threads about this in the past, but no clear conclusions. I think most people moved to Navigator 2 long before Pocket PC 2003 appeared. If you're going to try to make Navigator 1 work on Pocket PC 2003, it makes sense to use a recent version of the GPS driver (2.07 is probably a good version if you can find it) and Navigator 1.53.
