|
|
Last month I bought a new GO710 then a week ago checked their website that I had the latest map by typing in my product number, I was informed my mapping was out of date and to 'click here' to update.
I was offered new maps at €99. (£69.00) As the unit was less than 3 weeks old (To me) I thought TT may do a new user update so emailed them. The reply was to advise that they have to buy the maps from 3rd parties so they will have to charge full price
Why buy a SatNav with out of date maps.
I took the unit back and got a full refund due to out of date maps, the retailer also thought it was very unfair and as he had no way to tell if his stock was current or not he would do the refund and advise head office of the reply from TT which I left with them, (It was purchased from a large department store)
As thats TomToms response to a new customer I think I will shop elsewhere Maybe a Navman N40i or similar.

And you'll get much the same result. As it happens, their latest release isn't great, heavier compression has resulted in loss of detail such as waterways etc.
Units are manufactured with the latest available map installed. If a later map is released between manufacture and re-sale then it 'should' be offered to the purchaser and some have complained direct to TomTom and obtained a free upgrade. _________________ Darren Griffin |

That large retailer probably got the stock last xmas. So they really ought to be able to guess they are out of date by now. |
