Hi, Has anyone got the N560? cos I have installed TomTom Nav 6 on it but I cant get it work on the internal GPS cos when I go to preference for GPS options, it doesnt give an option to use internal GPS but rather the three options of the external gps to use with. I dont understand cos I only reason I paid so much for it was fact it had the internal SiRF Star IIIChip cos I dont really want to buy an external gps. Please help. Thanks

Before you go into TomTom select Start, Settings, System and GPS.
Check that GPS program port is set to "None".
Then under "Hardware" tab check that port is COM8 and Baud rate is 9600
Under "Access" tab check that the "Manage GPS automatically" box is ticked.
These are all default settings

Then go into TomTom and at GPS configuration choose
"Other NMEA GPS receiver"
Baud rate should be 9600
and Com port set to COM8

You should see the orange/yellow light on the top left corner start flashing.

Some people find it takes a long time to get initial fix on the N560.
It may be affected by some low-level background programs such as menu managers, today plug-ins.

Its easy when you have the answer sitting in front of you.

You might find www.firstloox.org and its forums useful as well.

Sorry can't help on this one.
I have an external antenna (which gives a stronger signal, particularly if your car windscreen blocks signals), and have tried a bluetooth GPS, but never tried a wired GPS.
The main reason I chose the N560 was so that I would not need to have a separate GPS.

Just wandering also, though this is a separate question but I cannot install pocket informant onto the PDA, I moved the saved file from desktop onto the SD card then installing from the PDA but it keeps saying that it's not PDA software even though I have d/l it from pocketinformant website. Have you installed any software onto the PDA? and what is the procedure? Thanks

Yes I have, but only from the PC running Activesync.

I think that if you want to install directly on the PPC you need a .cab file not a .exe
I am sure the guys on the firstloox site can provide further help

My advise would to be to purchase a Bluetooth gps unit such as the GlobalSat BT 338 Bluetooth Gps Receiver. If you search the sites at the right you will find plenty of good deals.

The bluetooth gps does not need to be set up on COM port, just select Bluetooth as the connection.

Not sure about this problem. But I suggest that you have a look at the FirstLoox website. Another website for support would be http://forum.brighthand.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1156 Or you could check the support pages on the programs homepage.

You still need to assign a serial COM port to the BT connection or else TT (and other s/w will not be able to use it).
