I have a Garmin 76C that I use for walking, and it would be most useful if I could use my Memory Map OS data on it. The 76C owner's manual clearly states however that 'It is not possible to transfer 3rd party maps into Garmin products.' I don't easily take 'no' for an answer, so is there any way round this - is there any way that I can use my Memory Maps in conjunction with the 76C? For example, is there any software available that will convert from MM to Garmin file format?

Sorry but it's a NO. Not possible.

Welcome to the forum Thumbs Up

Unfortunately you will have to take NO for an answer at least this time Smile

The format for the Memory Map (and also Anquet) OSGB mapping is totally different from that employed by GARMIN. Also the OS jealously guard their copyright so it is unlikely that there are any hacks about.

You could try the GARMIN Topo UK maps - but they aren't the same as the OS maps and you may be disappointed with them. I believe that on the GARMIN web site www.garmin.com it is possible to view a section of the mapping - so you could compare a familiar OS area with the Topo mapping.

I use Memory Map (for 1:25000) and Anquet (for 1:50000). I do all my route planning (including 'escape' routes) on the PC then print off a customised map(s) and transfer the routes / waypoints to my faithful, simple, GPS60 - which I use in conjunction with the maps. I will admit that I am 'old school' when it comes to this sort of thing. I have tried using my PDA with both Anquet and MM - but find I end up carrying too much - and you have to keep turning things off and on as the battery life of PDAs is no use for this sort of thing. Quite often the GPS is just used to confirm location and is there simply to record the track for later use. At present even PDA's don't show enough of the map, at the same time, to allow for route changes to be planned.
